IGNITE uses long-range BLE 5.0 powered by the Fanstel BT832XE BLE power-amplified transceiver. This is not your classic Bluetooth.
The i18 module has a minimum range of 50 to 100m+ (150 to 300ft+) with future expansion features to support longer range for challenging shoot site locations. It's important to note that this is the minimum range of our systems. It's common for phones and tablets to exceed 200m/600ft. Please watch our long-range video firing IGNITE from over 1,200 ft... To maximize range, raise it off the ground by at least one foot using a platform such as a 5-gallon bucket.
IGNITE also supports firing a show out of range by starting the show while in range, and instructing the modules to continue firing while out of range. Watch our Firing an Automated Show videos to learn more about this feature.
With 20+ hours of operation, the i18 module uses a standard internal rechargeable LiPo battery with a USB charger included.
When pairing an IGNITE module to your smart device, you assign a color for identification. You can select modules by color when firing your show manually or designing your show using our online IGNITE Show Designer software.
The IGNITE i18 module uses industry-standard Quickplug® connectors and is designed for use with Clip-on Igniters.
The IGNITE i18 module has an element-resistant design and can withstand sparks and other fireworks fallout. If you expect rain or other weather elements, we suggest covering the unit with something such as a 5-gallon bucket.
Any firmware updates to the IGNITE module for features or fixes are made available and performed directly from the app in seconds. No need for a USB or other software applications to perform updates.

The Quickplug 6-Cue Tester is an optional accessory for pyrotechnic enthusiasts, allowing the use of up to three testers with the IGNITE i18 module. Featuring six labeled blue LEDs for visual confirmation of cue firing, it simplifies setup and ensures a seamless pyrotechnic display. The LED also pulses to indicate active cue connection checking, providing peace of mind during your pyrotechnic endeavors.
While IGNITE doesn't directly offer protective cases for the i18 firing module, we've got you covered. You can either purchase a ready-made solution from a trusted partner or create your own custom case.
Great Lakes Mortar Racks offers a tailor-made case, specifically designed for IGNITE modules. This case is a convenient, ready-to-use option that provides reliable protection for your equipment.
For those who enjoy a bit of DIY, creating your own protective case is straightforward. You'll need just three items:
Drill a hole (we recommend the top left corner for optimal cable reach) and install the Armored Case External Antenna Cable, using both the lock washer and locknut. Connect it to your i18, place it inside the case, and you’re set!
You have selected a Quickplug Harness for use with an IGNITE Breakout Board. For safe and effective operation, it's important to adhere to the maximum firing specifications.
Following these specifications helps ensure that all igniters fire as expected. Exceeding the recommended limits may lead to igniters not firing, especially in synchronized or complex firing setups.
The tables below outline the maximum number of igniters that can be fired per cue, when using a single Breakout Board and Quickplug Harness.
Note that in when triggered, each cue sends a continuous 2-second pulse. If multiple cues are triggered within this time frame, the overlapping pulses count toward the maximum firing specifications. For more information on pulse times and their impact on firing capacity, please see our Help Article.
| Quickplug Harness Length | 2M Clip-On | 4M Clip-On | 6M Clip-On |
