Igniters

Clip-on & Fuse-Tube Igniters

Igniters are used to light the firework fuse and ignite the firework reliably and safely. IGNITE offers two types of igniters: a clip-on style and a fuse-tube style.

If you are undecided, the clip-on style has been around for over a decade and works great if you use the proper technique for clipping on the fuse. The fuse-tube approach is also a great choice as the elegant and simple design makes for simple installation by anyone.

If you are looking for a more professional instant ignition, you can purchase a MJG Initiators from our sister company COBRA Firing Systems. Please note this is a more professional setup and requires safe and careful installation.

Clip-On Igniters

What are they?

Clip-on igniters are designed for clipping onto the side of a Visco fuses. They function by channeling an electric current through a tungsten coil heating element, which then burns through any fuse lacquer coating, fiber exterior and into the powder core to ignite the fuse.

One advantage of clip-on igniters is that you can clip closer to the base of the firework to cause the firework to ignite earlier.

How to install?

Installation of clip-on igniters is simple, yet important to follow the exact technique. Simply attach the clip to the desired fuse ensuring proper contact from the side, then plug the other end into the IGNITE firing module.

Pros & Cons

Can clip further up on the fuse for faster ignition times

Lower shipping costs compared to the fuse-tube when shipping via FedEx vs. USPS which is disabled in June due to concerns about delivery reliability.

Critical to clip on using the exact technique. This is the most common point of failure.

Movement of the igniter after installation is more prone to causing failures

Fuse-Tube Igniters

What are they?

Fuse-tube igniters come with a pre-installed tube that simply slides over the fuse with a small piece of masking tape applied for strain relief. The beauty of fuse-tube igniters is their elegant and simple design for installation.

The advantage of fuse-tube igniters is that they are less prone to installation effort and also provide better strain relief.

The disadvantage is that fuse-tube igniters are a hazmat product and must be shipped by itself using special shipping methods and is therefore more expensive to ship. We offer an affordable USPS shipping method, but due to reliability leading into the 4th of July, we disable this method in June. We also offer FedEx shipping, but it's significantly more expensive. With proper planning and buying in advance of your show, you can ship reliably and affordably using USPS.

How to install?

Simply slide the tube over the fuse allowing a small gap of air between the fuse and the igniter head as shown in the installation video. Apply a small piece of masking tape to secure the tube to the fuse, and you're all set.

Pros & Cons

Simple installation technique

Less prone to user error

Fire more cues at once with Breakout Boards

Higher FedEx shipping costs

Due to hazmat restrictions, cannot ship with other IGNITE products
